SUPERVISOR AWARENESS COURSE

Who is the course for?

The course is designed for supervisors and managers who have a responsibility for forklift truck operations but do not operate themselves or have no experience or knowledge of how forklifts work.

Why take the course?

PUWER Regulation 9 says that “Every employer shall ensure that any of his employees who supervise or manage work equipment have received adequate training for the purposes of health and safety, including training in the methods to be adopted when using the work equipment, any risks which such use may entail and precautions to be taken”.

ACOP also says that Employers have a responsibility to provide adequate supervision and it is therefore essential that supervisors have themselves sufficient training and knowledge to recognise safe and unsafe practices in their working environment. Supervisors also need sufficient training to enable them to evaluate the advice of a fully trained and experienced operator to ensure they do not over-ride the operators advice and reduce safety.
